The Community Information Data Set (CIDS) should be used by organisations that provide community services commissioned or provided by the NHS via NHS community contract. The CIDS standard has been introduced with the aim of developing systems which enable extraction of community service patients’ health data. Local and national use of the data set is envisaged to generate “secondary uses” information to the nationally defined standards, allowing interpretation of data to produce local and national monitoring and reporting. This results in much more effective commissioning, monitoring of outcomes and addressing of health services. Indigo 4’s extensive experience of Commissioning Data Sets (CDS) places the company in an excellent position to perform CIDS translation and submission to the Secondary Uses Service (SUS). Indigo 4 can send all required data items and subsets of CIDS data which are:
- Personal and Demographic
- Referral to Treatment (RTT)
- Service Referral
- Care Contact Activity
- Indirect Patient Activity
- Onward Referral
- Group Session
Indigo 4 writes its own specifications and has therefore produced a standard CIDS specification. If an organisation wishes to utilise the specification then this can be issued. In addition, Indigo 4 has a vast wealth of experience in producing submissions based on local specifications. These do however need to be validated by our in-house technical team. Indigo 4 offer two different mechanisms for the submission of CIDS. Organisations who wish to manage their own CIDS translation and submission may purchase a Keystone server and relevant CIDS translation module. Alternatively, customers may send CIDS submissions to the Indigo 4 CIDS Translation Service where the files are translated and submitted on the organisation’s behalf. The Indigo 4 CIDS Translation Service is a cost-effective and efficient way to send and receive Community data, to the Secondary Uses Service (SUS) - all for a low annual fee. Take the strain off your busy information department by using the Indigo 4 CIDS Translation Service today!
